PJAS Winners: Region 2 of The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) held its 60th Annual Regional Competition earlier this month – a virtual competition this year. East High School students winning the “First Award” were Daniella Erlanger, Alexandra Bock, Alexa Petroff, Katherine Gude (perfect score), Eddie Lockie, Alyssa King (also awarded the Lacawac Fellowship), and Emma Thompson, taking home “Second Awards” were Madison Rios, Gloria-Gabrielle Gonzalez, Patricia Olsen, and Roshan Forde. Seniors recognized with the “Perseverance Award” were Emma Thompson (6 years), Patricia Olsen (6 years), and Roshan Forde (5 years).


West Winter Winners: West teams winning the Monroe County Division this season were Coach Williams and the West Boys Basketball Team; West Boys Basketball clinched the Monroe Division Championship; Coach Campos and the West Girls Basketball; and Coach Vavra the West Boys swim team!

East District XI Championship Results: Boys Basketball made it to the 5AQuarterfinals, where they were defeated by Pottsville. Girls Basketball was defeated by Northampton in the 6A Quarterfinal round. In wrestling, Keegan Demarest finished 4th and was the first alternative for Regions, while Cael Harmon finished in the 5/6 spot. The Competitive Spirit team took the bronze in the DXI Small 3A Division. In swimming, Tori Fenn got 3rd in the 50 Free and 2nd in the 100 Free!


Kindergarten Registration & Orientation: Pocono Mountain School District Kindergarten Orientation will be held the week of August 9 th each day at Clear Run Elementary Center, Swiftwater Elementary Center and Tobyhanna Elementary Center. Also, Kindergarten registration is underway. Parents may begin the registration process through the link provided on the District website: pmsd.org.


Cafeteria Staff Appreciation: Representatives from Giant Markets in Bartonsville thanked the Swiftwater Intermediate School Chartwells cafeteria staff for all their efforts by presenting them with a cookie tray and gift card. 

PM West Swim Team Champions

WHS Triple Crown Pride Award: West High School had 131 students qualify for the Triple Crown Pride Award after marking period two. This award recognizes students for who achieved perfect attendance, zero discipline, and distinguished honor roll for the first half of the school year.


Read Across America: Clear Run Elementary Center celebrated Read Across America Week with several fun activities for the CREC faculty, staff and students. Chartwells prepared a delicious, Green Eggs and Ham luncheon for CREC students. In addition, several members of the administration, school board, faculty, and staff recorded themselves reading books, that were shared with the students during their lunch periods and the Clear Run community through ClassDojo.
