DENNIS DIBONAVENTURA (1947-2021), 74, Pocono Lake, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at home. He was the loving husband of his high-school sweetheart, Martha Jane (Tomassetti) DiBonaventura, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

 

Born in Philadelphia on March 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Donato “Danny” and Esther (Giove) DiBonaventura.

 

A proud veteran, Dennis served in the United States Army. During his working career, he worked as a florist, in carpentry, and construction, and was the Director of Facilities for Mercy Health Systems in Havertown. He retired to the Poconos and had resided here for the last 13 years. Dennis was a man of many talents and anything he touched “turned to gold.”

 

He enjoyed fly tying and fishing, taxidermy, caricature wood carving, and watercolor art. Dennis was an active hunter and member of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He loved building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and was a member of the AMA West End Wings RC club.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Denise Shelmerdine (Mark), West Chester, Bernadette Woods (David), Garnet Valley; son, Dennis Jr. (Carie), Shavertown; sister, Lorraine Buchakjian (Ed), New Holland; brother, Ralph, Merritt Island, FL; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
