CHARLES J. HEALEY (1942-2021), 79, Mount Pocono and Surfside Beach, SC,  died Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono.  He was the loving husband of the late Kim (Calvin) Healey, who passed away in 2010.

Born in Carbondale on May 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Mary Healey.

A proud Veteran, Charles served in the United States Army and was one of the first troops to be transported on General W. H. Gordon to Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from NYU and obtained his pilot’s license. He worked in the software industry and eventually started his own consulting company in Manhattan, New York City. Charles retired to the Poconos in 2002 and in his spare time became an excellent golfer, scoring a Hole In One on July 1, 2008. Charlie enjoyed dining out with his friends and family and was an avid reader. He spent winters in South Carolina and was a regular beach walker and golfer there.

He is survived by his companion, Sherry Gainer, Surfside Beach; sister, Mary Cay Tomaine (Jim), Endicott, NY; sister-in-law Ellen Healey, Ft. Myers;  and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers George and Tim.

There will be a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 31 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at noon at the funeral home. Military Honors will follow. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
