Earl Eversen (1928-2022), 93, Pocono Pines, passed on March 27, 2022
Born May 28, 1928, in Staten Island, he was the son of the late Gladys and Engvald Eversen.
Earl was a graduate of Port Richmond High School on Staten Island. He enlisted in the army and served during the Occupation of Japan and in the Korean War. He attended Wagner College where he received a degree in accounting. He worked for General Electric for a few years while going to night school to achieve his teaching degree. He taught Business and ran a Co-op program at Staten Island’s New Dorp High School for 30 years.
While at college Earl met the late Dolores Eversen with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Together they had five sons and lived on Staten Island until moving to Long Valley, NJ. For many years Earl was a Baseball coach for his boys at all levels and helped to start and expand the WTAA Little League program in Long Valley.
In retirement Earl and Dolores moved to Lake Naomi in Pocono Pines, where they became active members of the community. Earl involved himself in the local Lions Club, was part of the Timber Trails Golf Club, and ran the neighborhood bowling league for many years. Earl loved sports and enjoyed rooting on the Mets, Giants, and Villanova Basketball.
Earl is survived by his sons, Neil Eversen (Carol Hemphill), Gouldsboro, Eric Eversen (Carol), Long Valley, NJ, Denis Eversen (Sabrina), Chester, NJ, Kevin Eversen (Kristi), Basking Ridge, NJ; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian.
