Together, the combined total cash on hand for the Republican candidates in Pennsylvania’s 8th District is less than half the war chest already compiled by the Democratic incumbent they hope to face in November.

Republican Jim Bognet had over $670,000 on hand at the end of March, raising half of that in the first three months of the year. Mike Marsicano, Mr. Bognet’s primary opponent, lent $400,000 to his campaign – it’s only receipt – and ended the quarter with $358,021 in the bank.

Representative Cartwright reported over $2 million cash on hand as of March 31. Over $600,000 of the Congressman’s holdings were generated during the first three months of 2022. Representative Cartwright is running unopposed in the Democratic Party primary.

The race is one of the most closely watched in the country. With the 5-term Democratic incumbent moving up the House leadership ladder, his district is rated a toss-up by the major political odds-makers, having gone for the former president twice.

The primary election will be held May 17, 2022. The last day to register to vote and still be able to participate in the primary is May 2, 2022. Voters can register, or change their registration if they moved or want to change political affiliation, online HERE.
