Proposed Zoning Change Not in Town’s Best Interests

APR 29 2022

To the Editor:

Regarding Tobyhanna Supervisors Set To Permit Commercial Resort Development In Conservation Districts

I am very concerned that the Bd. of Supervisors is holding a quickly scheduled meeting at 9:30 AM, May 2nd to VOTE on whether to change zoning on a parcel of protected land in our area.

This meeting is being held at a time when most constituents are at work or not available and does not allow any comment. As a taxpayer of over 45 years, I do not believe that this change is in our best interests. These protected lands are there to preserve the forests, wildlife, and watersheds in our area – both fragile and beautiful.

The impact will not only be on the beauty and natural environment of the Poconos which is what brings tourists and others to our community but it will have an impact on the fire, ambulance/health, police, and other services plus the infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc). This will certainly increase our already high taxes without benefit.

I urge this who can attend this meeting to do so and for the supervisors to vote NO to this proposal.
